Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (BSLC) members have been traveling to the San Quintin Valley in Baja California, Mexico for 20 years in an act of servitude to our Oaxcan brothers and sisters. The Oaxacans are Indian people from the southern most province of Oaxaca in mainland Mexico which have been transported to the Baja to work in the fields harvesting the vegetable and fruit crops.
The Lord has provided the funds and gifts to build many houses for the needy and our house design has included creative touches such as built in bunk beds for the children, tables, shelves and countertops for each of the homes. Our team members organize and participate in VBS outreach including puppet shows and other evangelistic efforts. Each year, our team purchases bulk food to share with the people of the San Quintin valley including groups who have been housed out in the mountains in farm labor camps. Through generous donations from our church family at BSLC, we are also able to distribute several tons of donated clothing and shoes.
Our mission outreach has shown us that helping people in practical ways can change their lives forever. Despair and hopelessness have been transformed because they have a home, a hope and a place to start. The volunteers who go on the mission trip each year are blessed, not just because they are able to help, but also because the Oaxacan people are so warm, hardworking and loving. Relationships that span the language barrier and the miles have been made that will last forever.
All team and board members donate their time to this ministry. The workers pay their own expenses on the mission trips. One hundred percent of funds donated to BSLC Mexico Mission are used to provide the building supplies and support services for the Oaxacan people.
