Adventures in the Vine, is based on the belief that kids learn by being active and participatory, getting hands-on knowledge that is applicable to their lives, and watching leaders model the love of Christ. Our desire is for them to learn about their faith by experiencing ways of living it.
Our Sunday morning children’s ministry "ATV", on Sunday mornings (9:45-10:45) is divided into three areas: Worship, Lesson, and Small Group. Volunteers guide their group of kids in a specific area, and help them to grow in their relationship with Christ by getting to know their leaders and fellow students.
- Worship: singing, dancing, and playing instruments; learning to worship with their lives
- Lesson: learning about God through interactive Bible stories and hands-on activities
- Small Group: groups of 5 kids with a trained adult leader where the whole groups applies the lesson in their lives as they learn to love and pray for each other.
Wednesday evenings is the time we participate in service and ministry. Each week of the month has a special focus. One week we explore international missions and ways we can have an impact overseas. Another week we do a local service project to help children in our neighborhood schools. The third area of focus is for a local outreach to people in need in our community. And the fourth focus area is a hands on time of service to others in need. Wednesdays are a great time for our 4 year-olds through 4th grade to invite neighbors and friends to come and serve together.
During parts of November and the first couple of Wednesdays in December children will prepare for the annual Christmas program. This is usually held about two weeks before Christmas.
Every summer in July, ATV kids have a chance to participate in Fun and Friends. This extravaganza event is held the last full week in July. Kids gather to have fun with their friends while learning some important truths about God and life. For more information about Fun and Friends click here.
Due to the added variety in our children’s ministry, as well as our desire to keep kids in small groups where they can build relationships with their guide and each other, we are in greater need of adult guides than we have been in the past. Each of the four areas is an exciting opportunity to get to know the kids of BSLC and connect with other leaders who share your gifts and passion to see kids grow closer to Christ.
